Since becoming an acknowledged master of the nine realms of magic he had never encountered anyone that he considered worthy to become an apprentice to him. That was a thing he actually had never considered at all. He knew that the apprentice and the teacher, he did not choose to use the word master, were bound by other ties and that at the moment they both so choose they would be reveal themselves to each other in such a way as to leave no room for doubt.
Silki had revealed her self to him and she had done it in the in between space, which meant there could be no doubt of who she was. How had this happened, and why to him? Such a young and beautiful creature so full of power, so in need of channeling it. WHY a woman?
Council law spoke only of the passing of knowledge either by self teaching from books and manuscripts as K had done and he was only the second in the councils history to attain his rank, or the Mage took on a male apprentice. In the past histories he could remember even from times in ages past long into memory there had been but one such successful pairing. There were indeed many powerful female mages, but none of them bonded and trained as she was to be trained.
He thought long and hard on just exactly how he would handle this. He could just hear the Grand Council of Wizards calling him before them to demanding to know why he took such actions on his own. Would they sanction his actions, he had his doubts else he would not proceed alone.
He made ready his private chambers, the only ones in the palace he could guarantee where secure enough for this ceremony, both in this realm and all the ones they would pass through on their way to completion. The step he was about to take even he in his meditations and searchings was not able to fathom the full depths of. What was certain was that the course was laid and it was time to run it.
