Alexander conquered the east! although the classical culture of greece had declined, a new type of culture was to be introduced to greece not too long afer alexander died-roman culture. Greece was from then on a political backwater and the culture of greece then was its legacy. For example, by the time the Romans had conquered greeece, sparta had beomce more of a tourist attraction than the gret power it once was. The culture of Greece was not gone, though, for a long time-but then Greek cultural center was mainly in Alexandria-many inventions adn structures were made there.

More than the East conquered Alexander, Alexander introduced Greek culture into the east. ITs archituceture started beocming copied, and it was ruled by a Macedonian succession of kings- the descendants of Antigonas Gonatas ruled Greece, Ptolemy Soter and his ddescendants ruled egypt and southern syria, and Selecus ruled most of the lands of Asia that was conquered. An example of Greek culture in Asia was that jesus spoke Aramic, a language that was derived from Greek.

I can see your point though, a lot of the integrity and culture of the greeks had diminished, but that process was alss set in motion by the devastation caused by the Peloponnesian war, when Greeks stopped beleiving in their gods because they couldnt beleive that the gods would do this to them, and they looked to Asiatic religions (Although some of those religions were not any more satisfying)
