For the occasion Chico has done his best to straighten
his brightly red and yellow coloured uncu with llama pattern by
placing it on a board and to go over it with a metal object that
he had heated in the oven.
He had also brought his llacolla, but has left it with
some friends that live near the Coricancha.
"It's a-too warm to wear a cloak on a bright sunny
day like a-this is", he had told his friend who was concerned
that he might catch a cold.
*Chico watches the procession go by from one of the
streetcorners*
"I say, what a crowd! " *Chico's eyes don't
know where they should be looking, there's so many beautifully
dressed people passing by*
"There's Mama Coya, wearing an outfit of purple
dyed vicuña wool with a pattern of zoomorphic figures.
"
"That must have been made out of a million Murexes1",
he hears someone, obviously a canticamayo2,
in the crowd say.
1. A canticamayo was a person who 's task it was to prepare
and dye material.
2. Murex Brandaris and Murex Truncullus (molluscs that
were used to get a purple colour dye)
