This post is about thinking in 3D and moving the bloody camera
Because I hate thinking at 45 degree angles, I always adjust my camera in Bryce whether in director or camera view so that there is no y axis rotation. This means that when I go to move the camera or resize an object, its a simple left to right movement (X axis), back and forth movement(Z axis) or up and down movement (Y axis). I often resize using the numbers in the object attributes dialog - in this view I know what will happen to the object because of how I have the camera set up. If I want the camera angle back to a rotated view, I change it AFTER I'm done building stuff.
Here's the default camera view when Bryce opens - Director view where the camera rotation is 45degrees on the Y axis.
In this next shot I change the camera view to Camera. The rotation is 135 degrees on the Y axis, by default.

Actually in either view, if you change the Y axis rotation to 0 degrees, you can have easier movement, and resize of objects. In both views you will have to move the camera using the mouse to center the ground plane. In camera view, I usually drag along the camera control closest to the trackball, forward and then left until I can see the ground plane wireframe in view.

This final shot shows everything lined up, with the Edit palette selected.

Changing views and Camera manipulation using the keyboad:
Ctrl + Trackball = constrains the camera to horizontal movement.
Alt + Trackball = constrains the camera to vertical movement
Numeric keypad 1 = return to current view
Numeric keypad 2 = view scene from the top
Numeric keypad 3 = view scene from the right
Numeric keypad 4 = view scene from the left
Numeric keypad - (minus) = Zoom out camera
Numeric keypad + (plus) = Zoom in camera
Selected Object movement:
Page Up = Move selected object UP
Page Down = Move selected object Down
Arrow keys = move selected object left to right or front to back
