First to get it out of the Way.....

I was Born and Raised in "The Land of Enchantment" ie...New Mexico. My family had a large ranch inthe Checker Board Area of New Mexico and Chaco Canyon was a 3 hour ride on Horseback from there....Rode to Chaco more often than my mother would have cared...LoL.

Raylari as to your Question Why move there to Chaco Canyon to begin with???

    The Climate changed drasticly!!

When the Dwellers of Chaco Canyon first moved to Chaco the Grass was High .....waist high is what the Tribal lore says and the scientists bare this out with tree core data as well.

At one time Chaco was a paradise and a haven of bliss green ,cool, Beautiful and life Sustaining.

But that changed drasticly and the Great city of Chaco came to an end.

Now to me a child of the Desert Chaco is still Beautiful and serene but it is hard for me to See it covered in seas of Waist high grasses The Thought and Mental picture is Soo....... so very forign to me as I Grew up in the Deserts of New Mexico.

I am also looking up some other Tidbits to Pass to you all About the Grand Chaco Canyon and Her Mysteries.
