I often ask myself why, when something abandon is established as "old" or "ancient", some individuals immediately try to take a piece of it. Then I think about the turn of the century when in Egypt it was often quite fashionable to have a mummy in your parlor as a source of curiously, horror and to keep up with the jones.
As for Chaco canyon, correct me if I'm wrong (haven't visited that website yet) nor do I know a great deal about it, but at one time didn't some archeologists equate it as the same thing that befell the Anasazi culture or is part of it?
I enjoy visiting such places but only if its ok with local tribes. My understanding is it isn't ok with them but they have little say in the matter. Not surprising *sigh*
"Take only pictures and leave only footprints."
Good motto to follow when visiting someone else place of the sacred.
