Ideas for the Roman Academic Centers (128 posts)
    General Thread

Academic Centers will be areas for historical discussion, trivia, news, etc. In a sense they will be like public groups. Eventually, we will appoint editors to help nurture and grow the Academic Centers, but before the Gold launch of the site, they will be edited by site staff. The job of the editor is more that of helping to stimulate conversation and help facilitate related events. There might be ten to twelve Academic Centers in Rome. The final decision on the initial Centers will be made by site staff in the middle of May. Please use this thread to suggest ideas on what Centers would make the most sense forRome. ...

*LOL* No, I'm not an internet grammar freak in any way. I agree that you all have some good points that you have shared with us here. However, the points that I brought up have not changed one single bit. There are many of us at AW who think that all our boards should have correct spelling, properly-used words and sentences that are complete and that make good sense. I am talking about the set-up of the groups and the boards, not the threads or messages within them.

I am truly happy that AW is a universal community with people of many different languages and races. I love meeting people of all countries and have visited all the countries in Europe as well as some middle-eastern countries. I speak a little of several languages; enough to friendly converse - to visit, shop, eat and get around pretty easily.

As I said in my other message, I think anyone who does not know enough English to set up a group should get the help of someone who does. As far as setting up a group in German, Italian, French, Turkish or other languages, that would be fine in other communities or sites that allow it. Here at AW, I have not seen any indication of groups in other languages being set up. Maybe this is something that Jot should look into!

I am signing off now and will not have any more to say on this seemingly delicate subject.

    Sincerely,
