    From the early times, when the deceased were laid to rest in a shallow pit of sand, the funerary customs developed and changed to become elaborate and sophisticated to a degree that it will probably never lose its fascination for modern people.

    I was lucky enough to get to see Nestanebetisheru's book of the dead with my own eyes, a few years ago. That is why I honored her by taking her name here at Ancient Worlds.

    It was exquisite! The colors vivid, the images enchanting! It was the one thing (of many!) at that exhibit that I kept going back to over and over.

    These books are works of art. If you ever get the chance to see one, I highly recommend you do so!
