The fleet was making good progress towards Tucca, according to the plans laid by Tiberius Gallus. They swept down the promontory west of Chullu, and had just passed a marshy area full of coves when the pirates sprung their trap.
Hidden in those coves, 24 pirate ships had lain in wait ever since the Romans had been spotted. Now, with the full Roman fleet in view, they sprang into action, falling on the line of ships from behind.
One canny sailor spied a smokestack emitting from one of the coves to the southeast, and wondered what it was for...
Your orders, Gallus?

1 - Ambushers approaching
2 - Site of the pirate anchorage
Blue line - path of the Roman fleet
