I think this is a great idea for a group, and I hope we can get some good discussions going. Since we are a small lot right now, I thought it might be fun to share some of our particular areas of interest. Below are mine...
I am an amateur scholar (and hack writer - heh!) who enjoys studying the history of Northern Britian from the end of Roman times through the establishment of Northumbria. I'm especially fond of textiles and period clothing. I'm also a bit of a nut for Arthuriana -- gee, none of you would have ever guessed that would you? ;)
Historically inclined books I'm currently reading:
The Picts A History by Tim Clarkson
The Gododdin of Aneirin: Text and Context from Dark-Age North Britain edited by John Koch
Historically inclined books on my reading list:
An Introduction to Anglo-Saxon England by Peter Hunter Blair
Leechcraft: Early English Charms, Plantlore and Healing by Stephen Pollington
Some favorites from my library:
The Kings and their Hawks by Robin S. Oggins
An Age of Tyrants: Britain and the Britons, A.D. 400-600 by Christopher A. Snyder
Firelord by Parke Godwin (Arthurian novel recommended to my by a good friend here on AW!)
The Goshawk by T.H. White (the hunting expedition with the goshawk in The Sword and the Stone was inspired by his own hawking experience)
Current craft project: A knitted shawl
Current travel plans: VT in a week, and the UK this spring.
So, what are everyone else's interests? *curious*
