The patrol between Chullu and Igilgili has produced results. A fairly large anchorage, about 3/4s of the way towards Igilgili, with approximately 50 ships at anchor. Upon being sighted, the pirates issued out in a squadron of 10 ships, at which point the 5 liburnae assigned to that scouting force made a run for it. Due to the fast reaction of the pirates, the exact number/makes/models of the pirate vessels is unknown.
Metellus' office has nothing substantial on the pirate operations, just a lot of complaints from merchants.
Utica and Carthage remain safe from attack.
In the battle against the merchantmen of Numidia, several ships were boarded by surprise out of Hippo Regius. 4 ships, with approximately 250,000 Denarii of goods, including grain, jewelry, textiles, etc, have been captured and escorted back to Utica to offload their goods.
Further orders?
