    sixty spinach like annuals. It's name comes from Greek and means "unfading." This is because of the long lasting flowers. It is an astringent, soothing, cooling herb that controls bleeding. Leaves are eaten as a vegetable and seeds are harvested as a grain crop. It's red pigment is used as colouring in foods and medicines.
