This is address to the Homo Novus:
I recognize the problem but to take Roman Rights away from Roman Citizens would not solve the problem but only destroy Roma. Most Senators are honest men and I’ll risk the rascal to protect civil rights. Our books should be open for all to review; our loyalty should be to Roma rather than money.
Quote Sextus Agrippa Rufus on the Senatus Consultum Junium Obviam Corruptio.
“Senatus Consultum Junium Obviam Corruptio is to merely accuse any magistrate anywhere in the whole wide world of any crime, no matter how unsubstantiated, and whoosh! This poor fellow must pack up and return to Rome on the double!” It would lead to chaos, not good government or good men. It would lead to further changes in LEX such as (any Senator or magistrate found giving false evidence shall be censored from the Senatus for life. Any other person found guilty of giving false evidence shall receive the death penalty). It would bring an end to free discourse in public discussion. That I can not support, that I will not support. The best advice to the Homo Novus is to withdraw your LEX and we can all sleep better.
