Most of you don't know that our own Kallistos Alexandros became very ill last December and had surgery which, we hoped, had 'fixed' the problem. However, Kallistos has disappeared. Neither Demetrios nor I nor, to my knowledge, anyone else since sometime in April, has seen him onsite. Nor does he respond to emails. He last logged onto AW on March 27.
Now, this is a great grief for all of us in Hellas who care about Kallistos. However, it also presents a very real challenge. Kallistos is the head of many groups, he was an active and creative scribe, and we, in Hellas, have kindof gotten into the habit of letting him come up with the ideas and projects for our world (perhaps I speak for myself, but Demetrios and I have discussed it as well). We only had two Hellas scribes to begin with - Kallistos and Demetrios - and now Kallistos is apparently unable to participate at AW. All the burden is on Demetrios, who is completing his second (and final!) term as Hellas Scribe.
We are actively searching for, and have some good candidates for, the position of Hellas scribe. While we all send our love and concern to Kallistos, I also think it would be a good idea to think about contributing to Hellas again. Frankly, I helped with the ACTA DIURNA article, and even though it's sleepy summertime, I worry a bit that Hellas is so quiet!
So in the next days we'll be removing Kallistos as scribe and looking for talent to succeed him, so I don't know anyone could replace him. And it's a good time to share your thoughts or ideas about Hellas in the next year. We hope to have some good new talent and some good new activity coming up soon. How do you want to pitch in to help?
