Ah! Its good to be home again at Three Sisters after our Long Walk. I want to do nothing but sit on the porch in the ol' rocker and soak up the homey hum of Kituwah in summertime. The bees are buzzing around the sunflower at the edge of the garden and I can almost hear the corn growing.

A lot of memories come back from the Walk. The swirling magic of the Aurora Borealis. Traveling by sled. And by canoes. The amazing songs and dances (and food!) of the potlatch. The wideopen spaces of the Pueblo region. All that sky. The green forest wonders of the big lakes and then the northern forests. The awesome structures of the Aztecs and Mayans, and their mysterious gods. Down into the precious beauty of the rainforest, then - Inti Raymi! There were many things along the way that reminded me of Kituwah, especially the food that was so generously shared. The Three Sisters are almost everywhere. And fry bread, no matter what you call it, is enjoyed by all.

So much learned, so much to remember, all of it good! The coyote companion I adopted (or maybe she adopted me instead) at Camarin's Cedar Swamp Animal Refuge in the Algonquin Village is still with me. We covered a lot of ground together and now KaWaNi rests by my feet, hunting whenever she likes, but always coming home sooner or later. I have to find places for all of my beautiful souveniers somewhere around my little home.

Now I'll put another pot of coffee on, stir up some fresh fry bread batter and see if the bear has left us any berries to make some wojapi. The door is open, as always, so come on in, share some food and sit with us for awhile. Tell us about your journeys this summer or reminisce about TALW08.

    Good morning, Kituwah!
