Ah, there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home!
I fly home from Cuzco and the Inti Raymi fest just in time to learn that Kituwah has won the gold medal for Best Place in AW! It's a good thing Akatena got here ahead of me and cleaned up the place. ;) Now we're ready to feast and celebrate just like old times.
The garden is doing surprisingly well considering we've been away for half the summer. The first sweet corn is up, and there are beans and squash too. So I threw together a Three Sisters salad to get the feast started.
A simple dish, nothing but some fresh corn scraped off the cob, fresh green beans, chopped or sliced squash, steamed for only a few minutes, then put in big bowl with about 6 chopped green onions or scallions, maybe a touch of garlic, parsley, or some other herbs you like, then tossed lightly with oil and vinegar, and you've got Three Sisters salad. Pass the cheese, please!
