Well, we've had a dog for 2 weeks now, and things are going pretty well. Certainly better than I had feared. It probably helped that the dog turned out to be a lot smaller than we expected, barely bigger than Morris when she arrived.
So far, Tigra has taken things best. OTOH, this is surprising since she is so shy, in some ways the traditional scaredy cat. But she really liked our old dog, going with us on walks across the back field and sitting in the upstairs window over the front door and calling when we went that way.
Jack has taken things pretty well, though he has swatted the dog more than a few times.
Morris enjoys scaring himself with the dog. He will sneak around like an Indian on the hunt, enjoying the "danger". The dog also likes to play with him and she can get him to chase her very easily, rarely chasing him in return.
Surprisingly, Lili has been having the most trouble. Normally, she isn't afraid of anything, not the vacuum, not the weed whacker, and she's only slightly wary of the lawn mower and the dogs next door. But she does her level best to pretend we don't have a dog at all and to stay well out of her way.
All in all, not bad, especially when 2 of the cats have never lived with a dog. Once the dog calms down (several months, I know), things ought to be okay. Nobody has or is likely to run away and the dog hasn't roughed anybody up. We might just pull this off.
