    the whole discussion of the Council of Nicae (Nicaea) is interesting. To me at least. I love the links you posted, Caily, as they are excellent at highlighting this, as well as just begin generally wonderful.

    I know that the Christian (at that time Catholic) faith absorbed most of what was then "pagan" festivals, worship, etc. But it is also historically interesting to see how these men (and they WERE men) decided how to incorporate all this into their religion.
    It doesn't bother me, as a Christian, to know that some of the holy days are "borrowed" from pagan seasonal festivals as I am able to see beyond organized religion to the underlying "God-is- in-everything aspect. Whether one uses the word "God" or some other form of higher power, there is truth in all of it, and I think the early church organizers realized this.


    This has made me think, however, which is always good! One should use the brain which one was given!
