Thanks, Casta; it's people like you, rare though they may be, that make staying around AW worthwhile.
But tell me something? On what basis do you declare me fascist or anti-Catholic? As anyone who pays attention knows, the fascists, like their cousins the Nazis, were socialists, and about as far on the left of the political spectrum as their erstwhile rivals, the commies. Since I don't have a socialist bone in my body (my first vote for a President was Goldwater), how could I be a fascist?
As for the anti-Catholic thing, it seems odd that someone posing like you as a history enthusiast should label the recitation of the persecutions by and evil doings of the old church, and they were legion, or those of the Roman Catholic Denomination immediately after the demotion engineered by Luther, as "anti-Catholic". The recognition of what happened in the past is simply the study of history. Having been put in their place, and their ambitions for a supra-national church-based control of politics having been defeated, the Roman Catholics are no more objectional than any other denomination, and I certainly have nothing against them, nor for them, for that matter. Where modern sects are concerned, I really just don't care.
Now, as for "obsession", naming Waterloo as one of mine is incorrect. True enough, ridding the world of the Great Thief of Europe was a signal event I can admire, but if you want obsession, then we can talk about the Royal Navy or the American Civil War.
Cheers,
