You know orchids are the most highly addictive plants on the earth? They have done this to me. I love other plants and I am addicted to gardening and herbs period but when orchids came into my life.......well let's just say they rooted well into my heart.
If you have read the book "The Orchid Thief: A True Story of Beauty and Obsession" by Susan Orlean the you know what I mean.
I read the book after I had already acquired the addiction. I have at last count 300 orchids and I am not a plant seller....they are my friends. Any way The next thing I knew I was knee deep in swamp water at Faxahatchee Strand a swamp in Florida and the only place in the world to find the Ghost Orchid. I haven't seen it yet in bloom and it has no leaves but I am going back soon with a waterproof camera in hand and a big gator stick to see if I can get a picture of one! Hopefully you won't get that bad off :)
Don't forget the Vanilla in Vanilla ice cream is from an Orchid too ;)
