Now Germaniae felt as though she were truly moving up in the world.
“Your old domus is now empty,” Romulus reported as he placed the last box on the floor.
Germaniae smiled. “I shall be dining here tonight. Have Lysia prepare dinner.”
“Yes Domina,” Romulus said before bowing out.
Germaniae felt really proud of herself. She had moved from her smaller estate out near Campus Martinis to her new property the former estate of her Uncle Claudius. It was a much finer and larger estate and from here, she could make her way back into society at a much faster rate.
Her old property, which she had barely broken in, would be converted over the next few months to a business. As it was on the river, it was ideally suited to process incoming and outgoing merchandise. Just what she was going to buy or sell was still up in the sir, but by the turn of the year, when she next say profits from her farms, she would have decided by then and begin doing whatever was necessary including buying some transport ships.
Initially, perhaps she could trade some of her good from the farms in Macedonia. Regardless, things were finally starting to look up.
Though she still longed to perform, openings were slow in presenting themselves. She had been so preoccupied with the properties she never really had time to return to the theater, not even to see a performance.
“Romulus!”
“Yes Domina,” the slave replied.
“I want you to stay at the other property tonight. Have Hermes return here at once.” Germaniae instructed.
Romulus followed Germaniae’s instructions and left quickly.
Meanwhile Germaniae checked on the meal preparation.
