Lucius took in the view of the garden as he sipped his wine.
"I do have one idea that I need to put forth, but I am unsure if the Plebian Assembly is the proper venue. Shopkeepers in the Subura have complained to me of the state of the streets. They say the condition impacts their business. In the winter and spring the streets are muddy and prevent the people from spending more time shopping. Deliveries of goods are sometimes delayed for days. In the summer, the streets are hot and dusty.
Lucius took another sip of his wine.
"The shopkeepers do not have the funds to repair the streets. Would it be possible to present legislation that would ensure that the streets of the Subura are paved, perhaps in phases, and that funds be set aside for repairs every year? I have seen no such similar legislation in my review of the leges."
Lucius sipped his wine again and awaited Gallus' thoughts on the matter.
