Aftenposten has the article Revelations from Viking age on the startling results of DNA and x-ray studies of the two women buried in the Oseberg ship in the year 834. The Oseberg ship was excavated in Vestfold, Norway, in 1904.

    The results:

    1. The two women were powerful persons, but they lived a hard life.

    2. The oldest of the women died of cancer in the age of 70 years or perhaps over 80 years of age. The first known case of cancer in the history of Norway.

    3. The oldest woman had also a hormonal disorder that gave her a masculine appearance.

.4. The younger woman had died of natural causes at the age of 50 years.

    5. The studies of the women's teeth reveal that their food was of high grade.
