Servilius Ahala, Brutus's 'creature', as some called him after Lucius left the city, walked the streets with great excitement and anticipation. It was a good day that day, a Roman day; a day of Games where gladiators, mere slaves, would meet at the sands of the arena to honor the values of any true Roman - the contempt of death and the ever going search for glory!

However, while walking in the city, Servilius could not miss the new graffiti which littered almost every wall on every hill - Rebellis caveo! Sit unus quod per suus mos scriptum!! (Rebels beware! He is alone and with his will composed!); the news from the Lucius's 'dramatic' confrontation had reached nearly everyone in the city! Servilius couldn't help but admitting to himself that the Plebes had their moments of spirituality and humor!

After a while, Ahala reached the Arena - it was filled with people, drinking the cheapest of wines and discussing the news, shouting a gladiator's name here and then, making a lovely fuss of the event. As soon as the first pair entered the arena though, an unnerving silence fell; it was only for a moment, so that the Aedile could announce the beginning of the Games. After all were set, the people started again shouting names and curses.

The first match was a close one between some new gladiators, Cerebrus and Superbus; while the two fighters exchanged a series of blows, several of those striking flesh, making the blood be spilled and the crowd roar with enthusiasm, the game was grabbed at the last moment from Superbus, who managed to find an opening in his opponent's stance and exploited it to make him surrender; Cerebrus had fought well though and the Plebes were shouting happily for the loser's release - maybe he would do better in the next match.

Next, it was the turn of Brutus's gladiator to fight. While the match started off with the best of omens for Mercurius, it quickly after became excruciatingly clear that he was way below the standards of Tremendus, who not only managed to block, parry and return nearly all of Mercurius's strikes against him, but he also managed to make the premium gladiator look like a rookie soon after the beginning. It was obvious that the loser was not worthy of another chance in the arenas and had it not been his resume in the provincial championships, he would indeed be killed - however, he was spared much to the dismay of the majority of the crowd who booed Mercurius as was carried away by the Arena's slaves and physicians. Servilius Ahala was also extremely disappointed by the performance, a defeat he did not expect from someone so.. large.
