David A. Wilson (one of my favourite Celtic Studies profs) has published a new book: Thomas D'Arcy McGee: Passion, Reason, and Politics, 1825-1857, the first volume of an engaging two-part biography.
The reviews are favourable:
"An outstanding work of scholarship and literature ... I doubt if a better study of McGee is possible."
~ Liam Kennedy, Queen's University Belfast
"McGee merits a proper, comprehensive biography, and this is the first that meets professional historical standards for objectivity and critical insight ... the writing is beautifully well-crafted."
~David W. Miller, Department of History, Carnegie Mellon University
If you happen to be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Monday, April 21, you can go to the launch at O'Connor Irish Heritage House.
Visit the McGill-Queen's University Press site for more information on the book and how to order a copy.
