Since our little rite tonite seems to have been washed out or post-postponed, I'm going to suggest a puzzler, a quest. Hopefully not a wild goose chase. In any case it's just the sort of teaser I can't resist, and will set off myself to find the answer. Since my article on "Apollo at Delphi" seems to be locked up, or I as author & editor am now locked out (can anyone explain why, and how to undo or work around it?), I can't correct the typos at the end of it, or edit in any way, I'll ask this question: What mythic scene is taking place in this wall painting from Pompeii? Who is the woman or goddess on the left with the cow or bull, and what's she telling or asking of Apollo? And who's the man between them? (a poet? Virgil?) And the woman on the right (cut off in this view)?
The round stone in the center is, of course (if you don't know, read my article here), and what's that snake doing wound around it?
