While using more than one source and writing articles in our own words are important guidelines, no one is being taken to task, or publicly embarrassed.
If the shoe fits, then simply take it off. No need to hide it, burn it, or throw it at someone in self-defense. We've all worn this shoe at one time or another. Trust me, it comes off.
In other words, just start getting into the habit of using more than one source, cross-referencing the material and being careful not to copy text someone else has written.
One way to avoid copying other authors is to always put quotations around the copied text as a reminder that it needs to be rewritten.
