I have heard of a huge bronze cauldron with a drinking bowl inside had been found in a tomb in a little place in Germany, Hochdorff, in the '70's and that the burial chamber is from the Hallstatt C period (early Iron age). Can't really remember the approximate date of the burial but if it is the early Iron Age in the Hallstatt Period it must have been between 800–600 BCE.

The dried powdery brown mass was identified as dried remains of mead.

Now this is weird, I just looked up the Periods in the Early and Late Iron Age and googled for Hallstatt and I came across this tomb. It says that this burial site was dated around 550 BCE, but then it must have been the Late Iron Age (Hallstatt D: 600–500 BCE)

So, honestly, I can't give you a date for the burial, not even an approximate one, since it contradicts each other...unless I can be hundreds of years off? Then my answer would be: between 800-500 BCE *G*

Maybe this will bring on a discussion about when what Hallstatt Period was?
