I don't think anything has been decided. We're still discussing the proposal of a fixed AW festival calendar.

Also, no one is saying that we can only hold one festival in Celtia. We would still be able to celebrate the other three. They just wouldn't be advertised on the companel or booked in the AW calendar.

If, as a community, the majority of AW members vote for a fixed festival schedule, and if we choose a festival other than Samhain, we will in fact still have two that are advertised sitewide. In Celtia, we've been including Samhain in the sitewide Goldfest festival for several years now because the two are so close together. If we continue to do this, Samhain will continue to be advertised as part of Goldfest

An intersting thing happened last Samhain. For the first time in I don't even know how long, Goldfest and Samhain were celebrated as two separate festivals. I was surprised to learn that some of our long-time members had no idea what Goldfest was and gave no thought to helping. The main focus was on Samhain. (Of course, who could resist the bog bodies? Not me. They were awesome!)

Am I going to vote? Not until I know whether the majority are in favour of a fixed schedule of AW festivals. Should this become an inevitability, I would like to see Bridgette's idea of a yearly rotation, rather than the same festival being favoured year after year after year.

In the end, though, I don't see that it really matters one way or the other. We can still celebrate all four festivals, and they can still be as big or small as we like. I would suggest that the size of a festival will depend on interest, i.e., the number of members willing to get involved and make it happen, rather than on a fixed calender date.
