Every year during the Lunar Festival, kiosks spring up all over the Orient that sell special traditional gifts, desserts and beverages.
What we would like to do, if possible, is set up three souvenir kiosks, one for each country being featured this Lunarfest: Vietnam, Mongolia and Korea.
Each kiosk would feature three souvenir plaques, a traditional treat (fruit, candy, etc.) plaque and a traditional tea plaque. For instance:
The Tsagaan Sar (White Moon Month) kiosk in Mongolia could feature 3 souvenir plaques. A few suggestions:
- traditional Mongolian dolls
- traditional Mongolian saddle or saber
- a fancy yurt (tent)
- Mongolian horseman, archer or wrestler to represent the Tsagaan Sar sports
The kiosk could also feature 1 Mongolian tea plaque and 1 treat plaque (a traditional Tsagaan Sar dessert).
Similarly, Vietnam's kiosk could feature three souvenir plaques that reflect the traditions of Tet (Lunar New Year), such as Tet masks, traditional Vietnamese hats decorated with calligraphy, fruit and flower gift baskets, a Tet dessert and a Vietnamese coffee plaque.
And Korea's kiosk could feature three Solnal (Lunar New Year) plaques, such as, a shaman's fan, a lucky seive, a Lunar ghost, a Five Fruit Tray, flowers, a Solnal dessert and traditional Korean tea.
These are just a few ideas!
To see what we mean by a "souvenir kiosk" visit the booth Shanti set up in Hangzhou for last year's Lunar Festival HERE.
If you feel inspired to create souvenir plaques for our kiosks, please leave a message on my scroll, or email me at jialishenchi@gmail.com and let me know what your muse inspires you to make so we don't end up with two plaques with the same theme.
Thanks! :)
