Bairgawulf i have no idea if that is correct but it would be cool to find out. i do know that the Crimea was the last hold out of the Mongol Golden Hoard (Crimea Tartars). up until the mid 17th century it was a protectorate of the Ottoman Empire. then in 1783 it was annexed to Russia. i would imagine that by the 17th century most every one in that region would speak either a Turko-Mongolian language or Slavic.
