As I watch the events play out and ultimately end in the public humiliation of Odin, I begin to feel a touch of sadness for him.

"He got what he deserved" Tyr leans over from an adjoining table and remarks to me.

"Yes, I suppose he did, but I can't help but feel sorry for him. He is after all, my husband." I respond.

"He will be ok in the morning my queen. He always is." is Tyr's response.

"Perhaps." I whisper under my breath. "Perhaps"

Normally my thoughts would weave back and forth into how I could benefit from this event. Tonight however, this is not the case. I am truly hurt by Odin's debacle.

I am and have always been his queen, but we are anything but a couple. After Balder's death, I accepted the fact that Odin would never feel love again and I was a sorrowful reminder of this pain and suffering. When he sought comfort with others I decided that putting up with his filanderings would be part of my duty to Asgard and the Aesir. I didn't have to like it, but I could adapt and he never seem to complain about how I adjusted. Now look at us for we are a sorry lot. King and Queen of the Aesir in name only.

He seeks comfort with Freyja and not me. We bicker and fight, tolerating each other only long enough to be seen in public together and important events. When at his side, Freyja seems more queenly than do I. It is time for a change. I must go to him.

I quietly excuse myself from the table and leave the restaurant.
