A lot of people like to draw parallels between King Arthur and Fionn Mac Cumhaill. Both were fostered and had secrets about their parentage. Where Arthur gained recognition by pulling the sword from the stone, Fionn met the royal challenge and saved Temhain from Ailinn the Burner. King Arthur led a band of heroes and so did Fionn. Both are supposed to be not dead but having a legendary sleep somewhere under the hills, where they will awaken at the time of greatest need.
