Kent's District of
Canterbury
District Leader:
Position is currently vacant
An important town in the kingdom of Kent, Canterbury was the place that where the Anglo-Saxons first began to embrace Christianity
Canterbury became the seat of an archbishop, and was to play a major part in the history of Christianity in England. Two abbeys were built there, which later became St. Augustine's Abbey, where Kentish royalty were buried. Ethelbert's son ordered the construction of the Christ Church monastery which later became the cathedral - a place which has pre-eminence in the English Church to this day.
