Jylland's District of
Hodde
District Leader:
Position is currently vacant
As one of many sites found in Occidental Jutland, others include, Ribe and Vorbasse (Where a museum is located), Hodde is one of the oldest pre-Roman Germanic settlements. The oldest part of the settlement dates to 1BC and is said to have existed for nearly 500 years, despite eight known moves within 1km from the initial location. This provides a glimpse of the beginnings of an hierarchical society. Twenty-eight residences have been mapped, twenty-seven within one enclosure and the other off on its own. The lone residence was built of finer materials and the artefacts indicate finer pottery and other tools. Like Hodde; the sites as Ribe and Vorbasse also demonstrate this societal division within farming communities.
