Muspell is the "home of desolation". There resides the fire giant Surt who rules with his wife Sinmore. It is also the home of his many sons, the destroyers of the world.



There are no actual descriptions of a city's construction in the realm of Muspell. As it is all made up of the fire element, it may be supposed that the actual abode of Surt is also composed of this fiery nature. But without descriptions of this place and it not being situated in the world of men, it is difficult to speculate upon material not contained in the Eddas.

But according to the myths, at Ragnarök, the end of the world, Black Surt, the guardian of Muspellheim, and his companions, the sons of Muspell, will savage the gods and cause all nine worlds to be engulfed in flames.
