De Vliegende Hollander, or the Flying Dutchman, was created to place the Lowlands back on the map. It is dedicated to all those members who would like to know more about this peculiar delta of many important European rivers of which so little is known. We would like to invite all those interested in this area and all those Dutchies out there. Wees Welkom! P.S. We hebben bitterballen! |

Newsletter December Issue

First Newsletter of DVH. Special Sinterklaas edition.
Hallo allemaal! Many of you probably know me for attending the Café Nehalennia houdt ook van een biertje and for serving hot coffee with a cookie in the morning, specially when it is cold, like December. Ahh, December, the month many children and adults long for during the year, besides the summer holidays of course. Many days off and festivities and of course presents!!!! To Hadewigis and me, this month is also very important because we celebrate the first month of existence of De Vliegende Hollander. We are very happy to see that the group is flourishing, that threads are active. But the thing that makes us must proud is to see that people at AW are interested in the Lowlands and its culture. We would like to put two people in the spotlight this issue. Marty Scylding and Wendela Olafsson, our two Professors. Wendela volunteered to be the First Teacher of the Crash Course Dutch class and Marty is taking care of the History thread. They are just two of the many members that are making De Vliegende Hollander’s maiden voyage a great succes and we would like to thank them for that. Next month more news and announcements of De Vliegende Hollander. Tot ziens en Happy Sinterklaas!

I am delighted to see
a newsletter for our group. Kinda like having a "Dagblad" (s?) of our very own. Congratulations for the initial issue. ~ dottie Curius |
