End of Samhain Posted at 14:00 EST
With the much anticipated end of Samhain (Do we even know that it was only one day?) Yes, and we also know that it should have been about a week prior considering the ancient Celts were on a lunar calendar and celebrated their festivals during times of full moon (Probably left over from when ancient people around the world went from hunters and gatherers to a more agricultural society).

Do I care much about these details? Not really.

Festivals are going to be as long as I say they are. In fact, I am going to keep posting stuff about Samhain for a long time after. I may post something at my comedy club about Halloween Humor, or I may post something about Samnios under the topic of the Coligney Calendar.

You see, the ancient worlds are wide open.

Besides, Samhain was alot of fun. I even got some of these.

Boring as Hell... Posted at 03:00 EST
I hate to be a naysayer, but things around here have been very lame lately.

I have been looking around for somw good conversation. Con is gone..papa G has left...Strabo is off working on his book. Aulus is entering article contests. I can't very well flame him there, can I? Too bad. I flamed him in grams.

What can I do now?

Election Day Posted at 04:45 EST
Election Day used to be a celebrated holiday in America. The reason I know this is because Edgar Allen Poe was found in a gutter on Election Day, and left for dead.

This of course was back in the days of the Blue Mondays and Pre-Industrialization. There were nothing like the Proto-Protestant days, when people would party for any given reason. My belief is that Election Day should be brought back as a holiday. I think it is a good holiday to celebrate democracy, while celebrating our diverse culture.

It is an all for one holiday. Pagans can celebrate Samhain, Catholics can celebrate All Saint's Day, and Protestants can celebrate Election Day.

If I am elected president, then I will make Election Day a holiday. You bet I will.

Come to Celtia for Samhain Posted at 22:45 EST

Required by the law of the King of Tara, historically a person could face punishment of death if they did not attend the festivities. Everyone was expected to drink as much as they could(drunkeness was holy to the Celts. They felt they grew closer to the gods). They were expected to eat as much as they could (probably to fatten up for the winter, much like the Thanksgiving tradition in the States). And of course, people were expected to take part in the orgies. Now, here is my question: Who would refuse such a thing?

Come and join us for the Celtic Festival of Samhain October 30-November 1.

The Golden Phoenix is scheduled to dock in Celtia Oct. 30th and will stay until the next day, Halloween.

During that time, a feast of the dead will be put on with everyone expected to celebrate in over-abundance. According to Celtic law, every person is required to not only attend the festival, but is expected to indulge in every physical pleasure. So Eat, Drink, and be Merry!

For a schedule of events, go to the Samhain Schedule.

Any concerns, please contact either Aifa Niafer or Vort Aedui.

We hope to see you there!

Thanks to Diantha Livius for the Samhain graphic.

Lughnasadh Ending Posted at 17:37 EST
Lughnasadh was great fun. I really enjoyed myself throughout this festival, and I met so many great new people in Celita that I never met before. I am hoping that through these festivals we can get more people into posting around Celtia in various places. The Roleplays and Trivia threads seem to be doing really well, but hopefully with the success of Lughnasadh, more people will get interested in the SOcial R&R aspect of AW. I am also hoping that more discussion will spark up as a result, as alot of people did quite a bit of research on the festival.

All in all, though, Lughnasadh appeared to be all around good, clean(?), fun and I am already looking foreward to the second sailing of the Golden Phoenix here in a few months.

Lughnasadh Planning Posted at 02:36 EST
Only two more weeks until the Celtic celebration of Lughnasadh, and I have volunteered to perform a pagan handfasting.

It looks like it is going to be an interesting experience to say the least, as I have never done anything like that before. I am grateful to Cathbran for setting me up with a site that has a good amount of information about the particular subject.

Hopefully things will go over smooth.
