Learn about my book series and how it's going!

The Golden Sword Info Posted at 21:00 EST
First of all, not everything that takes place in this novel is historically correct. It begins in year 3077 BC and I have entirely made up civilizations mixed in with real ones. It's fun. They are probably way more advanced than they should be, but at least it's no 10,000 BC movie. The majority of the people are using Bronze Age weaponry and Egypt's Great Pyramid is under no construction and hasn't even been thought of yet. Narmer has only just unified Egypt.

I base my characters off mythologies of the day in some of the subplots. For instance, Osídhe is based off Oisín with some awesome modifications. Lonnbeimnech is Lugh, also with some awesome modifications. Ocllo and Manco Capac also make appearances in my story, as well as Apedemak and Amesemi of Nubia.

The best mythology-made-history is Perkleitos who has Zeus, Apollo, and Eros all mixed together to make the most wonderful character ever. Forgive me for being so immodest, but Perkleitos is my treasure and I can't help but be proud of him.

Of course, all of these mythologies are modified to be realistic--well, not in Osídhe's case--pre-myths which explain how those myths came to be.

Haha...I find it both enthralling and possibly even a bit audacious of myself for making one bit of story. I read that construction on Stonehenge began in around the time my story takes place, but then construction stopped. I made it so that these certain kings were buried in Ireland and had to be moved to England (of course, these are called by different names in my story) for certain reasons which I might or might not disclose later. However, by the time they were free to move the kings, the city fell and the plans for Stonehenge were lost for a while. When the plans were refound, the purpose of it had long been forgotten and it was constructed for another purpose which is lost today. Maybe they thought it was a cool design? Perhaps we'll never know.

A civilization that I completely make up...well, maybe not completely...is the highly advanced civilization of who we now know as Australian Aborigines. In my story, they rule over the Six Empires.

I know I have other stuff, but I can't think of it just now. It was quite a busy day at work and I'm rather tired. I'll save it for another time.

Quill and Parchment Posted at 09:00 EST
I just signed up for the Quill and Parchment group because since I have been writing stories since I was 7 years old I declared myself a writer. I've been told I'm pretty good at it, but even if I weren't I would still write. I honestly believe my life would not make sense if I didn't write.

My life can be broken up in the following sections and orders of importance:

1. Writing

2. The Ancient Civilizations Series

3. Work and School (for the moment they are equal until I get my Master's Degree

4. My blog, Ancient Worlds, and everything Myst

I began writing my book series 5 years ago this May and I'm putting all my force behind it. I hope...if I remember...to give you some small details little by little here in this journal.

But that depends only if you're being good or not!

I also hope I can lend my experience and ideas to the Q & P group. Let's see if I have anything worthwhile to say, eh?
