My Bibliotheca is for my historical and academic pursuits. This, the most relaxing room in my domus, looks much like Senator Gallio's (Torin Thatcher) library from The Robe (1953), at left. Here you will find the books I have written as well as the books I have acquired for my collection from other citizens. Please feel free to browse! Here you will also find a collection of post that I have made to historical and academic boards.
The picture to the right is of my scribe, Chloë (as portrayed by Madeline Smith in Up Pompeii). She keeps the shelves of my biblotheca filled by copying books that I have borrowed from my friends or from the various libraries in Rome. When she's not working in my bibliotheca, she can often be found consulting volumes in the Bibliotheca Capitolina.
Chloë also assists me in the writing of my own works. She is very fond of taking dictation. Some nights, the gods willing, I can give her dictation for hours at a time. Sometimes even in Greek. It's really quite exhausting.
Although my personal bibliotheca is much more modest, I often visit the Bibliotheca Capitolina, which has vast stores of books in both Latin and Greek. The Latin reading room looks much like this image from The Fall of the Roman Empire, complete with the statue of Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom, in the recess against the back wall:
The great library's many books (scrolls) are in the cabinets that line the walls both above and below.
