This is where my clan bard lives. he helps me with historical and academic pursuits. Here you will find the books I have written as well as the books I have acquired for my collection from other citizens. Please feel free to browse! Here you will also find a collection of post that I have made to historical and academic boards. My particular historical interests in Ancient Germania are....
My Amoury
This is a sample of some of the things I have collected over the years.
The top sword is a traditional long-sword. It is an Oakeshott Type XV. Made by
Albion swords,model
Agincourt. (My most recent acquisition.) Below that is a
Del Tin model "2133" I purchased it in the late 1980’s. This sword holds a special place for me as it is the very first real sword I have every owned. It is an Oakeshott type XI. Modeled on the St. Maurice Sword, housed in the Weltliches Schatzkamme, Vienna.
The bow is made by Jaap Koppedrayer owner and craftsman of
“Yumi bows”. It is 55lbs at 28” with out stacking. The quiver is based on a Polish design used during the 1600, it can hold 2 and half doze arrows easily. I had the bow custom made for me around 1995-6. The core is Osage organ with zebra and fiber-glass Laminations.
Below are a curved Kinja knife commonly used by Georgians and Cossacks and a “Sinclair Saber”, (cutlass) made by Del Tin. unfortunately discontinued. All the Del tin's I own were purchased when they where still being made of crupt55. Unfortunately they no longer use this great sword steel for their products. I purchased these swords in the early 1990’s from museum replicas.
Of these four items below the two knives are made by me. The top one has a leather handle with braids terminating in truks head knots and long fringe. The bottom knife is a basic bowie design I made them both and the axe during my mountain man phase. I did early American Mountain man reenacting for a wile. The hand axe is plain iron bearded axe, which makes it great for throwing but poor for wood cutting. Which leaves use with the war hammer. Again made by Del Tin of Italy and purchased in the early 1990’s.
This is my training equipment. A wooden waster made by
“Purpleheart Armouries”
. Wasters are a great entry level training tool. The waster was used in the beginning for drills and pell work. The steel blunt is a custom training sword made by
“Arms and Armor”. It is basically a
“Fechterspiel Sword”
with the quilions curved and the pommel switched with the one off the
“Duke of Urbino Sword”
We use this brand of blunts because they are well made and the tip has a good flex to it. Making it safe for drills incorporating thrusts. Now that I have moved up to blunts I rarely use the waster except for working with new people and/or pell work. The mask is a 3-weapon fencing mask. It was the generic 3 weapon mask at the store where I purchased but it seems to be very sturdy and well made.
