The timeless mystery and beauty of the Orion Nebula transfixes me with awe every time I see it through the optics of a telescope or in high resolution astrophotographs. The scientific facts regarding the nebula are wonders in and of themselves, but for me the attraction is not the science, but the incredible palette of form and color, of depth and magic. Majestic art presented on a galactic scale.
If our Solar System had been formed closer to Orion, so that this view consumed a good portion of the dome of our night sky...what dreams would live in us then?
