I bring you with reverent hands
The books of my numberless dreams,
White woman that passion has worn
As the tide wears the dove-grey sands,
And with heart more old than the horn
That is brimmed from the pale fire of time:
White woman with numberless dreams,
I bring you my passionate rhyme.

    Carna, cuirm, cnoimes, cadla,
    it e ada na samna,
    tendar ar cnuc co n-grinde,
    blathach, brechtan urimme.

    Meat, beer, nuts, tripe,
    these are things appropriate to Samain;
    a bonfire of blazing wood on a hill,
    buttermilk, a thick spread of fresh butter.

    Brighid is a tall lanky redhead, somewhere between a goddess and a saint. You got it! A Catholic schoolgirl, mini kilt 'n' all. She may look like an old hag when you first meet her in her wee cottage back home in Ireland, but she's got her claws in the fountain of youth: a flask of Goibniu's Beer of Immortality hidden in her pocket. When no one's looking, dear Brighid nips into the sauce. The more she drinks, the better she feels, the younger she looks and the saucier she behaves. She may have been raised a proper girl by her druid daddy in the country with the cows and the corn, but she's not as naive as she looks. Or is she? Beneath that saintly halo, she's the Irish goddess Breo-Saighit - a real firecracker. Hey, they don't call her the fiery arrow for nothing. *wink*
