The list is divided into categories.

COSTUME and CLOTHING

Dress in Ireland: A History, Mairead Dunleavy, The Collins Press, Cork 1989.
An academic discussionof the dress of ordinary Irish over the past 2000 years, but naturally more detail available on clothing of the last 300 - 400 years. I would have liked a more detailed discussion and many more photos and illustrations of evidence for earlier periods, but a good reference work nontheless.
Mairead Dunleavy is Keeper of the Art and Industrial Division in the National Museum of Ireland.
