In
ResPublica Romana, my character is beset by misfortune. Her bad luck seems to have begun on her wedding day when her family blindly gave her to a monster. This is no love match and after 6 years of marriage, Diantha’s dislike for her husband has changed to hate.
Gaius Veranius Secundus is a much older man with a vile temper. He supports Tiberius in
every way he deems necessary. He threatens to send Diantha to Capri occasionally, during his brief visits home. He feels this is the only way to keep her in line.
Needless to say, Diantha's marriage is lonely and filled with terror. But, that changed a few years ago when her father died, as did her only brother. With no male relatives left in the family, as her father was an only son like her brother, Diantha's younger sister,
Druscilla came under Secundus' control. Although fearful of her husband, Diantha felt he would do right by her 13 year old sister and find a husband for her post-haste. But, after 2 years he had still not found her an advantageous marriage and Diantha feared for her sister.
Diantha's fear came true it turns out...
Although she has no proof, Diantha knows deep down that Secundus has done something with her sister. She can only guess as to what, but doesn't want to face the truth that is before her.
