Between our humble cottage and the Great Hall is a broad expanse of lawn which we simply call "The Green." The grass is kept neatly trimmed by the many goats of our tuath, or extended family. It is a bright and sunny area… when it is not raining.
It is here that the people of Clan NiaFer tend to gather on a Summer's eve, to talk, to play, to dance, or to just quietly enjoy one another's company. There are large rocks and benches strewn about, for sitting on, and a place where we can build our own bonfire. And, there is plenty of room to dance under the stars.
Come! Have a seat! Take joy in hearing or in telling a tale or singing a song. We are a people of much mirth and laughter, and of fine hospitality.
Here's my poem which took First Place in Bardic competitions at the Celtia Springfest.
Beltaine Rannaicheacht
Beltaine Stones
In a ring the Mother's bones
Waken bright from winter's chills
Stills the Cailleach's moans and groans
Beltaine Dark
Smothered fires make mystic mark
Ancestral spirits may come
From that other world embark
Beltaine Gift
Open otherworldly rift
The dead meet those who still live
Give withered spirits a lift
Beltaine Blaze
Purify through smoke and haze
Those who make the Beltaine leap
Keep their health and strength always
Beltaine Feast
Food for all, both man and beast
And for ancient Gods and ghosts
Hosts share all from great to least
Beltaine Dance
Round the sacred fire we prance
Pairing off in groups of two
Who will dare to take a chance
Beltaine Fire
Fanning flames of youth's desire
Time for trysting in the dark
Spark of love leaping higher

And here are three Haiku I composed for The Orient.
Single white blossom
Settles softly to the earth
Sound of silent spring
Cherry maid's pale dress
Falls down about her ankles
Soon she will be green
The pink snow of spring
adorns the barren branches
Cherry blossom time

A Look at Slane Village, May 7, 2007 - 14:59
The Village of Slane had its beginnings in the mid-1700's, shortly after the Conyngham family took over the Lordship of the Manor. Most of the structures that date from the 18th century are of a similar design and construction. They were all built to the requirements of William Burton Conyngham. For this reason, Slane is refferred to as an "Estate Village". Come take a look at the architecture, and you will see what I mean.
Slane Mill and Environs, May 3, 2007 - 15:54
The Village of Slane, County Meath, Ireland, is home to a number of ancient ruins, a relatively modern castle and one of the largest flour mills in Europe. It also contains some fine Georgian architecture in the village proper, most of which was built at the direction of the Conyngham family, the local Lords of the Land.
