Cylon (Kylon)
Man With Ambition.
Cylon (also know as Kylon) was a man with ambition. After becoming an Olympian victor in 640 BC, Cylon attempted to overtake and rule Athens in 632. He had support from his father-in-law who did the same thing in Megara, but this support wasn’t enough to bring his desired coup to pass. He sought sanctuary in the temple of Athena Polias on the Acropolis for himself and his followers, but his followers were killed by rivals led by Megacles of the Alcmaeonids. Cylon and his brother escaped, but they never returned to Athens.
