The infamous navel battle at Actium was fought on September 2nd 31BC in the Ionian sea, and was the final nail in the coffin of the second Triumvirate. Upon his return to Rome as the victor, Octavian was awarded the title of Imperator by the Senate, and the Empire was cemented.
