Featured Hood:

Northwest Islands and Bays, built by Lipset YellowStar, is one of the newest finished projects in our hoods. "The Northwest Coastal Indians lived in what is now Alaska along the Pacific Ocean down the coast to Northern California. This was a rugged strip of land with many small islands, deep inlets, and narrow beaches. The mountains rise to the shore in many places. Thick forests of spruce, cedar, and fir dominate the area supplying and endless supply of wood. Many rivers and streams cross the land." The new chief, Xtreemli Curius says she's got plenty of ideas for activities, and is just waiting for more people to move into the lovely 'hood.

Featured Members:

Couple of weeks ago, I got two emails from two of our esteemed patrons, saying that they had grown tired of AW, and were moving on. The twosome in question were Acolnahuacatzin ShieldJaguar and Sak Biyaan ShieldJaguar, who had been active leaders in groups, like Anahuac and Calakmul and had built many hoods, Kalak'mul, La Venta and Tenochtitlan. It is always sad to see excellent contributors to the site leave, and we do wish Sak and Acol all the best where ever their path leads them. Thank you for the great work you did for us! Vaya con Dios, commadre and compadre!

Group Spotlight:

The group Tenochtitlan has a new leader, Huicton Moteuczoma, and assisting him in revitalizing it are Snake Woman Zama Roca and Patron Goddesses Cornellia Cornelius and Bryce Yupanqui. If you want to learn or write about the history and language of the Aztecs, or roleplay while learning, please check out the group.

ACTA DIURNAAmericas World News

Summer is over (tho if I look outside it doesn't look that way, 92°F and rising...), and it's time to move on to cooler things, after Sun heated us up during Inti Raymi and memories did the same during Decennalia. Thanks for the memories and participation. As you can see from below, many changes have happened too, since last ACTA, tho normally nothing happens during summer. Well, this time did, and seems that some people are up to their ears with festivals, and would like to move on back to serious group discussions and hood activities. Well, you're welcome to it, and what better place to prove it, than the next Goldfest V (now planning)! Please, share your ideas at the thread, and please, try to resist any contests and quizzes; I hear there's an ongoing contest on who can resist making one the longest. I bet the first one... nah. ;)

3 chiefdoms up for grabs! Tikal, Tenochtitlan and Kalak'mul are in need of a new chief. If you are a resident of these territories, and would like to take the leadership of one of them, please contact the scribes, or post so at the Americas Neighborhood Project-thread.

The Kituwah territory had an active summer... In June, the corn was green, and we got strawberry baskets delivered home (Yummy, thanks!); July, the corn was ripe and corn husk dolls were made ... in August time fruitsw ere plentiful, and we saw the birth of the Territory Cook Book, with all kinds of indigenous food recipes. And now it's time for September Moon, which is the month of the nut.

Two pages for new terrories for the Highlands Region have been created, namely Tlacopan and Texcoco, and are under development by Huicton Moteuczoma. More about them in the next ACTA, if/when they get made ready. If you have suggestions for more regions or territories, and would like to do write-ups for them, please post so at the Americas Neighborhood Project-thread.

After Sak and Acol's departure from AncientWorlds, Apo Mayta Huacac has taken the leadership of the group Anahuac: Pre-Columbian Mexico and the group Calakmul has new leadership, too; Mangas Cochise and yours truly have taken the reins, at least for the moment. If you're interested in or would have new ideas for these groups, check them out and join!
