This article is written by me Iona Cumhaill, I do hope that it brings the reader a wee bit of enjoyment and/or fun.
In regards to the community of leprechauns it seems that they only originate from isle of Eire and/or Northern Ireland. These men are very difficult to locate but not impossible as for over thousands of years folks have the fortune whether good or bane to actually see or chat with these men of such.

Leprechauns are a community of portly wrinkled elderly looking gentlemen; their height is about 3’

to 3’5”. They can be found either, to be sporting a beard or clean shaven and the majority of them do smoke a clay-pipe and are very likely to display being intoxicated since they do love the taste of their home-brew potent beverage. Slainte!

There are definitely two types of leprechauns one is the jovial type with the little twinkle of fun in his eyes and the other is quite mean and is a prankster of frequent wicked antics. Thankfully the latter type is not the majority rule.

The most common fashion you would see amongst the leprechauns is the one that is described to children in fairytales. From head to toe the leprechaun gent would be wearing a black-belted felt hat of green sometimes with a shamrock tucked just under the hat’s belt; wearing green jacket, knickerbockers pants, long white stockings with shining black leather buckle shoes. Oh yes, must not forget that he does carry a magical shalaylie which is a fairly straight knobby sticklike club.

The community of leprechauns seems to be only that of men-folk which is rather difficult to believe since how would there be any to replace the ones that have eventually passed on from this earth. I know that they be old but they can’t possibly live for eternity. So these men must keep their women very well protect from our eyes and any dangerous beings.

These little fellows have since ancient times been the self-appointed guardians of the ‘pots of gold’ which was left and hidden by the ancient marauding Danes. The leprechauns have hidden each of these found ‘pots of gold’ and the end of each rainbow. I don’t know about you but I certainly as a child tried frequently to get to the of the rainbow but no matter how close the end of it seemed to be I just couldn’t reach it. This is also a way that they travel from one place to another by using the rainbow as a bridge of travel.

If you should happen to find a leprechaun and capture him he carries two leather money bags attached to his belt. Each pouch holds a coin, one of silver and one of gold, the silver coin replenishes the pouch with another silver coin where as does the pouch that holds the gold coin which is used to bargain his way out of difficult situations but as the receiver usually finds out the given gold coin disintegrates, leaving the individual with nothing except feeling foolish.

So, if you should have the fortune to meet a leprechaun I do pray that he be a kindly gentleman with a twinkle in his eye and not the prankster.
